Suns re-sign reserve guard Randy Livingston
Aug. 17, 1999
PHOENIX -- A four-game tryout apparently was enough to
convince the Phoenix Suns to re-sign backup point guard Randy
Livingston.
"We loved what Randy did last year in the four games that he played with us," Suns coach Danny Ainge said. "He's a player that I have a great deal of trust in. He knows how to play the game and make people around him better." In three playoff games in a series sweep at the hands of the Portland Trail Blazers, Livingston averaged 5.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 8.0 minutes. He averaged 12.4 points, 5.0 assists and 3.4 rebounds in starting all five games for the Suns' entry in the Rocky Mountain Revue this summer. The Suns were the third team in as many NBA seasons for Livingston, who started his career with the Houston Rockets in 1996-97 and averaged 3.9 points and 2.4 assists per game. He appeared in 12 games for the Atlanta Hawks the following season and scored a total of 10 points. Before signing with the Suns, he helped the Sioux Falls Skyforce to the CBA finals, averaging 19.4 points, 7.8 assists and 4.7 rebounds in the playoffs. Copyright 1999 SportsTicker Enterprises, L.P.
