Backup quarterback John Leonard was among the players affected. The others were starting free safety Alfred Williams and backup defensive tackle Jawell Samilton, as well as seven walk-ons.

ASU spokesman Mark Brand said the players received intravenous treatment before the game and their playing status remained uncertain.

Brand said the team had dinner together Friday night, and the 10 players later ordered room service snacks at the Moana Surfrider Hotel. A sandwich spread is believed to have caused the food poisoning.

Leonard had been splitting time at quarterback with Griffin Goodman since Ryan Kealy was injured in the season finale against Arizona.
