Jets hire Whisenhunt as tight ends coach

NEW YORK -- Ken Whisenhunt, a tight end with the New York Jets from 1991-93, rejoined the team Wednesday as tight ends coach.

Following his NFL career which ended in 1993, Whisenhunt began his coaching career as special teams and tight ends coach at Vanderbilt in 1995.

He remained with the Commodores through the 1996 season before becoming tight ends coach with the Baltimore Ravens. He stayed with the Ravens through the 1998 season, then became special teams coach with the Cleveland Browns last year.

In his NFL career with the Jets, Atlanta and Washington, Whisenhunt had 62 receptions for 601 yards and five touchdowns.
