St. Louis' thrilling 23-16 victory over Tennessee wasn't decided until the final play, keeping viewer interest up throughout ABC's broadcast.

Last year's game, Denver's 34-19 win over Atlanta, got a 40.7 overnight rating, which is based on major markets, and a 44.5 national rating.

With two small markets, ABC had been hoping for a 42.0 national rating for this year's game. National ratings will be released by Nielsen Media Research late Monday.

The rating is the percentage of television households watching a telecast, and the share is the percentage tuned in among those televisions on at the time.
