Carlos Pavon and Jorge Caballero scored second-half goals as the Hondurans clinched a berth in Saturday afternoon's quarterfinal round.

Pavon gave Honduras a 1-0 lead on a penalty kick in the 53rd minute. Jamaican goalkeeper Warren Barrett fouled Honduras' Milton Nunez inside the penalty box area, resulting in Pavon's kick.

Caballero clinched Honduras' victory with his goal in the 86th minute. Jairo Martinez fed Caballero with a centering pass, which Caballero headed in past Barrett.

Honduras and Colombia play for quarterfinal seeding position in another first-round match Wednesday night.

Jamaica, a 1998 World Cup qualifier, failed to score in its two Gold Cup matches, which also included a 1-0 loss to Colombia last Saturday night.
