Honduras shuts out Colombia

MIAMI -- Carlos Pavon and Milton Nunez scored second-half goals to lift Honduras to a 2-0 victory over Colombia on Wednesday night in a Gold Cup soccer game at the Orange Bowl.

Honduras (2-0) advances to Saturday's quarterfinal against the loser of Wednesday night's United States-Peru game. Colombia (1-1) plays the United States-Peru winner on Saturday.

In the 71st minute, Pavon took a feed from Amado Guevara and beat Colombia goalkeeper Miguel Calero from 18 yards.

Pavon later broke free and sent a crossing pass in front of the net where Nunez headed it in in the 78th minute.
