Pettey picked for Saints coaching staff

NEW ORLEANS -- Phil Pettey was hired by the New Orleans Saints on Monday as offensive coordinator for quality control.

Pettey, who will analyze videotapes and scout opponents, previously worked as an assistant at Southern California, mostly with the offensive line.

He spent the 1987 season on the Washington Redskins roster. Prior to joining the Redskins, he was a three-year letterman as an offensive guard at Missouri.

Pettey earned his bachelor's degree in education from Missouri in 1987 and a master's degree in education from LSU in 1993.
