Daughter of Wisconsin coach heads for Hoosiers

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Kathi Bennett, whose father, Dick Bennett, coached Wisconsin into the Final Four, was hired Tuesday as women's basketball coach at Indiana.
Bennett, 37, replaces Jim Izard, who was fired March 6 after the Hoosiers (10-18) were beaten in the first round of the Big Ten tournament.

| | | Bennett was 51-61 in four seasons at Evansville, rebuilding a downtrodden program into a winner. Evansville was a combined 9-43 her first two seasons, then went 19-11 and won the Missouri Valley Conference tournament in 1999. This year's team was 23-7 and placed second in the league.
Before coming to Evansville, Bennett coached seven seasons at Wisconsin-Oshkosh, winning the Division III national title in 1996.
