Here is how SportsLine.com Senior Writer Len Pasquarelli sees the first round of the NFL Draft. The selections are listed with team, primary needs, the team's choice and a short commentary:

1. Cleveland -- WR, OT, DE
DE Courtney Brown (Penn State): Safest pick in the draft, should be a premier pass rusher for the next 10-12 years, a solid character guy.

2. Washington (from New Orleans) -- LB, OT, FS
LB LaVar Arrington (Penn State): The man they have wanted all along, will be penciled in as immediate starter on the strong side and should make an impact on shabby defense.

3. Washington (from San Francisco) -- LB, OT, FS
OT Chris Samuels (Alabama): Insurance policy on the left side for often-injured quarterback Brad Johnson, expected to start as rookie; a terrific pass blocker.

4. Cincinnati -- RB, OT, CB
WR Peter Warrick (Florida State): Despite his slide, still the most exciting offensive player in draft; allows Bengals to play plenty of three-wideout sets.

5. Baltimore (from Atlanta) -- DT, RB, FS
DT Corey Simon (Florida State): He'll go in this spot, but probably not to Ravens, who are likely to trade the choice to Green Bay, Oakland or the New York Jets.

6. Philadelphia -- DT, WR, TE
WR Travis Taylor (Florida): Would prefer Simon; if he's not available, will try to trade down from this spot, possibly to Jets.

7. Arizona -- RB, DT, LB
RB Thomas Jones (Virginia): They need a feature back, but will still consider LB Brian Urlacher of New Mexico at this spot and could entertain trade offers.

8. Pittsburgh -- WR, DT, OT
QB Chad Pennington (Marshall): For two weeks they blew smoke about wanting WR Plaxico Burress, but they get their guy and Kordell Stewart is destined to become "Slash" again.

9. Chicago -- LB, DE, WR
WR Plaxico Burress (Michigan State): Bears might even trade up to get him, but won't surrender second-round pick; would also consider Urlacher at this spot.

10. Baltimore (from Denver) -- DT, RB, FS
RB Jamal Lewis (Tennessee): He's the "special" back offensive guru and head coach Brian Billick wanted, could even take him at No. 5 if they stay there.

11. N.Y. Giants -- RB, OT, CB
RB Ron Dayne (Wisconsin): A coin flip between the Heisman winner and RB Shaun Alexander of Alabama, but the Giants want a workhorse and this guy is it.

12. N.Y. Jets (from Carolina, through Washington and San Francisco) -- WR, TE, DE
LB Brian Urlacher (New Mexico): He won't last this long because he's too good an athlete, so don't be surprised if Jets move up in round to select him.

13. N.Y. Jets (from San Diego through Tampa Bay) -- WR, TE, DE
DE Shaun Ellis (Tennessee): Not a flashy player but the kind of steady anchor the Jets need on front four; also could trade this pick to move up higher in round.

14. Green Bay -- DT, TE, LB
TE Bubba Franks (Miami): He's neck-and-neck on their board with TE Anthony Becht; would take Ellis if available and will consider DE John Abraham and several linebacker prospects.

15. Denver (from Baltimore) -- TE, WR, DE
WR Sylvester Morris (Jackson State): Might take Franks if he is available at this spot, but coach Mike Shanahan needs a third receiver to get best results from his offense and Morris has prototype size.

16. San Francisco (from New England through N.Y. Jets) -- CB, DE, LB
DE John Abraham (South Carolina): Will also consider LBs Julian Peterson and Keith Bulluck, whoever they draft will start immediately in a very thin defensive front seven.

17. Oakland -- OG, DE, WR
LB Keith Bulluck (Syracuse): Would consider Peterson here and were Sylvester Morris available they would probably jump all over him; trying to trade up to No. 5 spot overall.

18. N.Y. Jets -- WR, TE, DE
LB Julian Peterson (Michigan State): Too good to pass up at this spot, hardly a mental giant but would add quickness and athleticism to an already deep linebacker unit.

19. Seattle (from Dallas) -- WR, CB, OT
OT Chris McIntosh (Wisconsin): Want to get a tough in-line blocker, might try to play McIntosh at guard and will also strongly consider OT Stockar McDougle.

20. Detroit -- OG, OT, CB
OT Stockar McDougle (Oklahoma): His ability to move inside and play guard or start at right tackle affords the Lions plenty of flexibility; would also consider a tailback at this spot.

21. Kansas City -- RB, LB, WR
RB Shaun Alexander (Alabama): If he's available here, look for Chiefs to finalize trade for Cincinnati RB Corey Dillon; Bengals would then use this spot to select Alexander.

22. Seattle -- WR, CB, OT
CB Deltha O'Neal (California): A bit of a surprise given the need for a wide receiver, but coach Mike Holmgren is down on veteran CB Willie Williams and might try to trade him.

23. Carolina (from Miami) -- OG, RB, CB
OT Adrian Klemm (Hawaii): Would love to get Alexander and will choose either an offensive lineman or defensive back if he's gone, and really like Klemm's upside.

24. San Francisco (from Washington) -- CB, DE, LB
DE Erik Flowers (Arizona State): Could take a cornerback here but need pass rushers and, with a pair of second-round picks now, should be able to get a coverage player like CB Rashard Anderson in second stanza.

25. Minnesota -- DE, CB, OG
DE Darren Howard (Kansas State): Everybody thinks Dennis Green is drafting a cornerback, but he's got only three defensive ends on roster and none of them are special.

26. Buffalo -- FS, CB, DE
CB Ahmed Plummer (Ohio State): Too good to pass on if he is still on the board at this spot, but also like Flowers and would strongly consider him if he is still available here.

27. N.Y. Jets (from Tampa Bay) -- WR, TE, DE
TE Anthony Becht (West Virginia): Need to get a tight end and some people think that he is superior in some ways to Franks; will also consider Marshall FS Rogers Beckett with this pick or maybe even trade it.

28. Indianapolis -- DE, DT, LB
DT Chris Hovan (Boston College): Desperately need some front seven depth and will also think hard about Brigham Young MLB Rob Morris, who would be a starter if he's still on board.

29. Jacksonville -- OG, WR, CB
OG Cosey Coleman (Tennessee): Need to replace veteran OG Ben Coleman, a free agent who probably won't return, and Cosey Coleman might beat out OG Travis Claridge of Southern Cal here.

30. Tennessee -- DT, TE, FS
WR Todd Pinkston (Southern Mississippi): Surprise pick here, but a solid if undersized playmaker; would also have to think about taking Becht if he is not gone before this.

31. St. Louis -- OT, DE, DT
DE John Engelberger (Virginia Tech): Both starting ends had offseason surgery and they need depth; would also consider an offensive lineman here and they love Klemm if he drops.
