The scoop: One of the major pieces of the top-ranked A&M linebacker corps.

Big brother is watching. And he likes what he sees.

Texas A&M senior outside linebacker Jason Glenn, the younger brother of New York Jets All-Pro cornerback Aaron Glenn, has spent much of his life in his brother's shadows. But last year, the younger Glenn stepped into his own spotlight, beginning the season in stellar fashion before an injured ankle hobbled him for several games.

Despite the injury, Jason finished second on the team in sacks and tackles for loss. When healthy, his quickness, intensity and pass-rushing ability made him the most dominating player on the A&M defense.

And his fun-loving style made him a crowd favorite.

Among all of Jason's admirers, perhaps no one was as proud as Aaron, an All-American cornerback at A&M in 1993.

"I'm very proud of him, and I knew he could be a great player," Aaron said. "He has his own talents and style, and he doesn't need to be compared to me."

Although he plays a different position and is 50 pounds heavier than his older brother, Jason views comparisons to Aaron as an honor, not a burden.

"I've been compared to him all my life, and I think that's a great honor," Jason said. "I just want to be the best player I can be. My brother has always told me that I can be something special and I'm trying to continue the Glenn family tradition of playing great football at Texas A&M."

So far, so good. But Jason promises the best is yet to come. "I'm looking for a big year to help this team get back on top," Glenn said. "If you thought I was a terror last year, you ain't seen nothing yet."

Even after this year, perhaps Texas A&M hasn't seen the last of the great athletic performances by the Glenn family.

"I have a little sister who is really good in basketball and track," Jason said. "This is where she wants to come, and she may be the best of all."
