All Purpose |
 | | | David Allen(Allsport) | |
Kansas State's David Allen is a near-lock to break Lee Nalley's 51-year-old national record for career punt return yardage. Nalley had 1,695 yards for Vanderbilt from 1947-49; Allen is only 172 yards behind, and will own that record in a hurry, provided teams are brave enough to kick the ball to him. And with one more return for a touchdown, he'll break the mark of seven he shares with Oklahoma's Jack Mitchell and Nebraska's Johnny Rodgers.

Kickers |

Jamie Rheem and Vitaly Pisetsky were two of three finalists last season for the Lou Groza Award (won by Florida State senior Sebastian Janikowski), and can get far again if their teams provide them enough field-goal chances. Now healthy after being hampered by injury in 1999, Epstein has the biggest of legs, consistently booting the ball into the end zone on kickoffs.

Punters |

Not that the Nebraska offense needs a lot of bailing out, but Dan Hadenfeldt does that just fine in a pinch, as he did when the Cornhuskers eked by Colorado last season. Stemke is a veteran who gives Wisconsin the best pair of kickers in the nation.
