TABRIZ, Iran -- Iran became the first team to advance to next year's 10-nation finals of Asian World Cup qualifying, beating Tajikistan 2-0 Tuesday.

Iran finished first in Group Two with with a 2-0 record, while Tajikistan was 1-1. Guam was 0-2, losing 19-0 Friday to Iran - which set a record for goals in a World Cup qualifier - and 16-0 Sunday to Tajikistan.

Ali Daei scored in the 47th minute and Mehdi Hashemi Nasab in the 76th minute for Iran.

The top two teams in Asian qualifying advance to the 2002 World Cup along with co-hosts Japan and South Korea, which have automatic berths. The No. 3 team in Asian qualifying meets a European team in a playoff for another spot.
