SINGAPORE -- Former South East Asian
champions Singapore scored a late equaliser to hold Gulf Cup
holders Kuwait to a 1-1 draw in their World Cup qualifier on
Tuesday.
Noh Alam Shah struck with just four minutes left of the
group four preliminary round match.
After a goalless first half, Kuwait took the lead through
captain Bashar Abdullah. He struck from just inside the penalty
area after 61 minutes.
It appeared that the solitary strike would be enough for the
group favourites to collect their second win of the tournament.
But a brilliant individual effort by Noh Alam Shah earned
Singapore a share of the spoils. He beat several defenders
before firing home from a tight angle.
