SINGAPORE -- Two goals in the last five minutes gave Kuwait a comfortable 3-0 win over central Asian republic Kyrgyzstan in Group Four of Asia's World Cup qualifying tournament on Friday.

It was Kuwait's second win in three matches and strengthened their position at the top of the group with seven points. Bahrain, who were playing Singapore later on Friday have three points from two matches, followed by Kyrgyzstan (3 from 3) and Singapore who started the day in last place with one point from their two matches.

Jassem Al Houwaidi struck five minutes from time and Khalaf Al Mutairi in the second minute of injury time to keep the Kuwaitis at the top of thestandings.

Kuwait, needing a win after their draw earlier in the week with Singapore, were unimpressive in a dull first half that ended goalless.

They came to life just after the hour mark when Al Salmiya striker Al Houwaidi hit Kuwait's first to give Dusan Uhrin's side the lead.

He then struck again 24 minutes later to double his side's advantage and push Kuwait closer to qualifying for the second phase of Asia's qualifying tournament, which kicks off in August.
