KUWAIT -- Bahrain beat Kyrgyzstan 2-1 and Kuwait defeated Singapore 1-0 Wednesday in Asian qualifying for the 2002 World Cup.
Jumagulov Zamirbek scored for Kyrgyzstan in the eighth minute but Mohammed Salmeen tied it in the 22nd and Mohammed Hassan put Bahrain ahead in the 74th.
Khalaf al-Salama scored in the seventh minute for Kuwait.
On Saturday, Kyrgzstan plays Kuwait and Bahrain plays Singapore.
Kuwait (3-0-1) leads Asia Group Four with 10 points, one ahead of Bahrain (3-1). Kyrgyzstan (1-3) had three points and Singapore (1-0).
The top team will join Saudi Arabia in the 10-nation Asian finals, which
will produce two qualifiers for the 2002 tournament in Japan and South Korea.
