RICHMOND, Va. -- Tyree Harris scored 23 points Tuesday to lead Bethune-Cookman to a 63-62 victory over Howard in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Collegiate Conference Tournament first-round game.

The Wildcats (10-18) outrebounded the Bison 37-30 and held Howard (10-18) to 36.4 percent shooting while shooting nearly 50 percent themselves. However, Bethune-Cookman's miserable ball-handling prevented it from pulling away. The Wildcats committed 20 turnovers -- six by Harris -- while collecting just five assists. Every starter but Diondre Larmond had a negative-assists-to-turnovers ratio, and Larmond merely broke even.

Ali Abdullah went 14-of-15 from the line and paced Howard with 22 points.
