Qatar, Hong Kong win World Cup qualifiers

DOHA, Qatar -- Qatar beat Palestine 2-1 Friday to advance to the second round of Asian qualifying for the 2002 World Cup.

Mohammed Al Enazi put Qatar ahead in the 23rd minute, Emay Ayoud tied the score six minutes later, and Qatar's Abdul Aziz Bujaloof made it 2-1 with two minutes left in the first half.

Hong Kong defeated Malaysia 2-1 in another Asia Zone Group 3 game.

Qatar (3-0-1), which has never qualified for the World Cup, joins Bahrain, Iran and Saudi Arabia in the next round.

There will be 22 World Cup qualifying games in Europe.
