PHNOM PENH -- Two second half goals gave Indonesia a 2-0 win over Cambodia in their World Cup group nine qualifier on Sunday.

Indonesia head the group with nine points, while Cambodia remain bottom with one point and have scored only once since the qualifying matches began on April 1 -- against Maldives in a 1-1 draw two weeks ago.

Eko Purdjianto scored Indonesia's first goal in the 78th minute and Bambang Pamungkas added the second in the 87th.

Indonesian coach Benny Dolo said Cambodia played better on Sunday than they had the week before when Indonesia beat them 6-0 in Jakarta.

"This game was very difficult for our team," he told reporters after the match. "The Cambodian team is becoming better. They have a future."

Cambodia's coach, Joachim Fickert, added: "Their behaviour was much better than in Indonesia. This team has a bright future. They have to learn to be more dangerous."

Goalkeeper Suon Dara was the outstanding player on the field for Cambodia, Fickert said.

"Today he was our outstanding player, without trying to minimise some of our other players today."

Cambodia host second-placed China next Sunday, May 6, while Indonesia travel to Maldives.
