NEW YORK -- Miami Fusion midfielder-forward Alex Pineda
Chacon, the league's leading scorer, on Tuesday was named MLS
Player of the Month for April.
Pineda scored five goals in four April games, helping the Fusion
to a 4-1 mark and 12 points. They have a five-point lead atop
the Eastern Division.
The 31-year-old Honduran sat out the second game of the season
after coming on as a substitute in the opener and scoring twice
in a four-minute span. He has been in the lineup since and has
scored in every game, including the lone tally in Saturday's 1-0
win over New England.
"The Alex Pineda Chacon legend lives on," Fusion coach Ray
Hudson said. "Next week, we'll bring him out and he'll turn
water into wine."
Three of Chacon's goals have been game-winners.
