NEW YORK -- Los Angeles Galaxy forward Cobi Jones, who scored twice in Saturday's 3-2 road victory over the Colorado Rapids, was selected MLS Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, April 29.

Jones, who collected the award for the eighth time, enjoyed an historic match. The 30-year-old striker's first goal marked the 300th for the Galaxy franchise and his second tally was the 50th of his MLS career.

"The fact that my two goals were team and personal landmarks makes them more special," Jones said. "I want to share this with all my teammates, but especially Peter Vagenas for his two great passes that put me in position to score."

The United States international snapped an eight-game MLS goal-scoring drought with his pair on Saturday. Jones' last goals came on July 8, 2000, when the Galaxy's all-time leading scorer with 140 points struck twice in a 5-3 victory over Miami.
