Anchery's strike lifts India past Brunei 1-0

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Brunei -- India, already eliminated in its World Cup qualifying group, beating Brunei 1-0 Saturday on J.C. Paul Anchery's goal in the 65th minute.

Yemen (3-0-2) leads Asia Group Eight with 11 points, two ahead of the United Arab Emirates (3-2) and three ahead of India (2-1-2). Brunei (0-5) is last.

The group winner will be decided Friday, when Yemen plays the UAE in Dubai. Yemen or the UAE will join Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan in the 10-nation Asian finals, which will produce two qualifiers for next year's tournament in Japan and South Korea.
