BANGKOK, Thailand -- Thailand routed Pakistan 6-0 Monday behind four
goals from Kiatisak Senamuang in an Asian World Cup qualifying game.
In another Group 5 game in Bangkok, Lebanon beat Sri Lanka 5-0.
Thailand leads the group with 15 points after five games, and Lebanon is
second with 12 points.
Thailand will play Lebanon in the group's final round on Wednesday, also in
Bangkok. Lebanon needs to win to advance to the next round while Thailand needs
only a tie.
Lebanon's only loss in group play was to Thailand, 2-1 on May 17 in Beirut.
Sri Lanka and Pakistan both have one point and have been eliminated.
The top team in each of the 10 Asian groups advances to the final qualifying
round. Two or three teams from Asia will qualify for the 2002 World Cup. South
Korea and Japan qualify as hosts.
