Fusion's Preki named MLS player of week

NEW YORK -- Midfielder Preki was named MLS player of the week after contributing in all of the goals for the Miami Fusion in a 4-3 victory over the Columbus Crew.

Preki had a goal and three assists in the first MLS match played at the Orange Bowl on Saturday. He has four goals and nine assists this season.

Preki, the first member of the 50 goal-50 assists club in the MLS, is currently tied for sixth in the league with 17 points, four shy of his 2000 scoring total.

Preki is a five-time MLS All-Star and is the fourth different Fusion player to win the award this season. He has won the MLS player of the week award four times in his career, most recently in 1997.

Miami tops the MLS with a 11-1-2 record and 35 points.
