The Professional Soccer Reporters Association (PSRA) has unanimously selected Miami Fusion forward Diego Serna as MLS Player of the Month for June.

During the month Serna netted seven goals and five assists for 19 points through four games as the Fusion went 3-0-1 to continue its dominance of MLS. Serna made his impact felt during the month with game-winning assists against both Dallas and Columbus, the game-tying goal against Los Angeles and the game-winner against Kansas City. He earned MLS Player of the Week honors on June 4 after netting a hat trick in Miami's 6-2 rout over Dallas.

For the season, Serna sits atop MLS in the scoring race with 31 points, seven ahead of teammate Alex Pineda Chacon. The Colombian striker also leads the league in goals scored (11) and is tied for the lead with assists (9). He is also tops in points per game (2.62), shots (55), shots on goal (25) and game-winning assists (6). Going into his team's July 4 match at San Jose, Serna is riding an eight-game scoring streak and had at least one goal and one assist in all four June games.

Serna received a first-place vote on every ballot to outdistance Columbus's Dante Washington and Chicago's Zach Thornton for the honor. The MLS Player of the Month is selected by a panel of journalists from the Professional Soccer Reporters Association (PSRA).
