LIMA, Peru -- Uruguay beat Peru 2-0 Tuesday night in a World Cup qualifier, putting more pressure on Brazil going into a key game at Argentina.

Dario Silva scored in the 11th minute and Alvaro Recoba added a goal in first-half injury time, curling a free kick around a defensive wall and past goalkeeper Miguel Miranda.

Argentina (11-1-2), which already has clinched a berth, leads South American qualifying with 35 points, followed by Paraguay (8-4-2) with 26, Ecuador (8-5-1) with 25, and Brazil (7-4-3) and Uruguay (7-5-3) with 24 each.
