ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates -- Qi Hong scored the only goal as China edged closer to the World Cup finals with a 1-0 win over the United Arab Emirates in an Asian qualifier Thursday.
China leads Group B with 13 points, with three games remaining.
In the 43rd minute, Qi headed a right cross from Sun Jihai past defender Abdul Rahman Ibrahim.
The UAE's best chance came in the 79th minute, when Bakhit Saad's 35-yard kick hit the crossbar.
Qatar is second in the group with eight points.
