DOHA, Qatar -- The United Arab Emirates beat Qatar 2-1 in an Asian World Cup qualifier Thursday night as Yasser Salem scored the tiebreaking goal with three minutes remaining. Faisal Khaleel put the UAE ahead with a header in the 43rd minute, but Waleed Hamza tied it one minute into the second half off a corner kick. China (4-0-1) leads Group B with 13 points, followed by the UAE (3-3-1) with 10, Qatar (2-2-3) with nine, Uzbekistan (2-3-1) with seven and Oman (0-3-2) with two. China can clinch with a tie or win Sunday against visiting Oman, The two Asian group winners qualify for next year's 32-nation field in Japan and South Korea, and the second-place teams advance to playoffs.
