CHEYENNE, Wyo. -- Wyoming receiver and team captain Ryan McGuffey was suspended indefinitely after being charged with drunken driving. McGuffey, 21, rear-ended a pickup truck on an interstate highway early Sunday, said Sgt. Stephen Townsend of the Wyoming Highway Patrol. No one was injured. Townsend said he had no details about McGuffey's blood-alcohol level. Court documents only stated that the level was above the legal limit of 0.08 percent. McGuffey posted $400 bond and was released later Sunday, officials said. Attorney Tom Lee entered a plea of innocent to a charge of driving under the influence for Townsend. A trial date of Nov. 12 was set. Wyoming coach Vic Koenning declined comment when asked about the accident during his weekly teleconference Thursday. Koenning said the receiver's status for Saturday's game against UNLV "remains to be seen. We'll wait and see." UW athletic director Lee Moon later issued a brief statement stating McGuffey "will be suspended indefinitely from the Wyoming football team while the judicial system runs its course." McGuffey is the team's third-leading receiver this season with 25 catches for 326 yards. He has three TD catches. He caught four passes for 88 yards in a 34-26 upset win over Air Force on Saturday.
