Setting a new standard for self-abuse in sports, a soccer team in Madagascar lost 149-0 Friday after scoring one own-goal after another to protest a refereeing decision, according to broadcast reports.

After Stade Olympique l'Emyrne's coach, Ratsimandresy Ratsarazaka, got into it with the ref in the national league match at AS Adema's home field in Toamasina, SOE began kicking the ball toward its goal after each kickoff, Radio Madagascar reported.

Adema's players simply looked on in bewilderment while their opponent self-destructed by scoring against itself 149 times.

Radio Madagascar said the score represented a world record for a top-class match.

SOE was last year's league champion. Adema clinched this year's title last weekend.
