DENVER -- Kansas City running back Priest Holmes left Sunday's game against Denver in the second half with a strained right hip. Coach Dick Vermeil said after the Chiefs' 31-24 loss he did not know the severity of the injury. "He strained it," Vermeil said. "The doctors don't seem alarmed. He couldn't play tomorrow." Holmes was on crutches in the locker room and declined to discuss his injury. Holmes, the league's total offense leader and second-leading rusher, went to the bench after being pulled down from behind by Tyrone Poole on a 56-yard run to the Denver 4-yard line late in the third quarter. Moments later, Holmes walked slowly to the locker room, accompanied by the training staff. Holmes entered the game with 1,454 yards rushing, and his long run gave him 161 yards in the game. He did not return. Vermeil said fullback Tony Richardson dislocated his right shoulder early in the second quarter. "Tony is probably out for the season," Vermeil said.
