SportsLine/Lindy's reports
Nov. 12, 1999

The heart and soul of last year's team, Roberto Bergersen, has departed, leaving the Broncos and coach Rod Jensen searching for a go-to guy.

Fast facts
Coach: Rod Jensen -- At Boise State and Overall: 67-47, 4 years 1998-99

1998-99 Record: 21-8 Overall, 12-4 Big West (Tie/1st East)

Honors candidates: Abe Jackson and Kejuan Woods

Sophomore big man Abe Jackson and junior forward Kejuan Woods could fill that role, but the Broncos' best chance at winning the conference and reaching the NCAA Tournament likely went out the door with Bergersen.

A player to look out for is sophomore center Michael Gely, a Frenchman who was forced to sit out the 1998-99 season and lost a year of eligibility because he had participated in five games on a French professional team.

Keep an eye on

Jackson, a sophomore who came on strong at the end of last season, averaging 14.5 points and 7.8 rebounds while shooting 70 percent over the final six games.
