Coach's Edge -- CBS SportsLine

The Chiefs realize that the strength of the Raider defense is their tough defensive line. To help slow down the rush and relieve the pressure on Grbac (#11), Kansas City will run the draw. The Cheifs like to draw out of a "twins" formation with two receivers on each side and Anders (#38) as the single back. Seeing this formation, the Raiders will think pass and come after Grbac hard.

To make the draw work, the line must sell the pass action, while pushing the rushing defensive ends to the outside. As the ball is snapped, Jenkins (#74) the right tackle, will allow the defensive end to penetrate to the outside and then seal him off. Meanwhile, Shields (#68) the right guard will seal the defensive tackle to the left creating an opening for Anders (#38). The lone defensive players in Anders' way will be the middle linebacker, who the Chiefs are hoping will drop back into pass coverage. That way, even if he makes the tackle, the play is good for at least 6 yards.
