Remember one thing. Numbers don't lie.
Use this strategy to get yourself out of the first half slump your team has been in. For the most part, players will produce stats similar to those which they have produced in the past. This means that hot first half hitters will generally cool down in the second half and slumping players that have produced in the past may get hot. This isn't always the case so you'll have to be carefull when utilizing this strategy as a small minority of players will stay either hot or cold.
This strategy can be extremely helpful as hot players who theoretically will cool off in the second half have an inflated trade value, and some owners may be willing to dump slumping stars cheap for up-and-comers or 'average' players.
For example, Mark McGwire has 40 home runs and a ton of RBI, but will he finish with 70 home runs? Extremely doubtful. More than likely McGwire will cool off as the pressure increases and his team falters towards the end. If you have him, dump him for a five category guy and a good pitcher. You'll get it and he'll be worth it. My all second half team is as follows:
All of these guys underproduced in the first half and are showing signs of returning to form, and may be availalbe for little or nothing.
All second half dump team:
Not that they'll stink it up, but their trade value far outweighs they're second half potential. Most of these guys have never reached offensive superstardom, but their first half numbers are great. Good luck.
