Bleacher Features -- Topic 13: Roto Rooters
CBS SportsLine Fantasy Baseball 1998 Keith Yeager is a Bleacher Features regular. He is part of a 12-team, standard auction league. His favorite player, Juan Gonzalez, has seven fewer RBI than hits!
Everyday is a different day in terms of baseball statistics. The
typical Fantasy owner just can't wait to see how his players did in
their last game. This is what I refer to as "the urge of knowing".
Since baseball is played just about every day for six months, that urge
can sometimes take control of owners' lives throughout the season. Once
you know today's stats, all you can do is wait and keep waiting for
tomorrow's information.
Our league has an internet stat service that gives us our league
stats updated daily. As soon as I get in to work I start checking to
see how our team is doing. Impatience gets to me then, too, because the
stats are updated anywhere between 8:00 AM and noon. Its great though
being able to see the league stats daily instead of waiting for a
mailing once a week that has stats that are a few days old. I don't
know how I survived the mailing my first year.
There are nights where I will spend a good two hours on Fantasy
Baseball Live following my players. I have been a little disappointed the last few years with the cable sports programs because of the lack of statistics they show. Why can't they put up a miniature box score while they are showing highlights of the game? I have given up with them. On Fantasy Baseball Live you have up-to-the-second stats. You no longer have to wait until the morning paper to figure out whether your night was monumental or a bust.
