Chuck Cook was recently named the
1996 PGA Teacher of the Year. He
teaches out of Barton Creek Country
Club in Austin, Texas. He is a disciple of
the late Harvey Penick, the world
renowned golf instructor.
The first step to eliminating an
unwanted "left to right" flight path of
your ball is to strengthen your grip.
Turn your hands well to the right until
your ball begins going too far to the left.
* (Once you start hitting it left, that
indicates your club head is becoming
square to the direction of your swing.)
After you've adjusted your grip, the
next step is this practice drill: You begin
by lining three balls diagonally in front
of you.
When you begin your downswing you
will feel as if you are swinging toward
the "outside," or to the right. This will
help rid you of the "left to right" shot.
