Drawings, about 4,500 years old have been found in Egypt showing people playing a game like hockey. In those days people played with sticks and a stone.
Now, people use shin guards, mouth guards and other special equipment.
The players hit the ball to each other and try to shoot the ball into a goal at the end of the field.
