Synchronized swimming is like water ballet.
It is a team sport. The teams have two or nine swimmers. The teams with two swimmers are called duets.
The teams move through the water to music. They must keep in perfect time with each other. As the swimmers move, their legs and arms make patterns.
There is an underwater speaker so the swimmers can hear the music underwater.
Synchronized swimmers must be very strong to lift themselves out of the water. They must be able to hold their breath for a long time.
The swimmers wear nose clips so the water does not go up the nose.
Judges give points for the best moves and the best teamwork.
Synchronized swimming is for women only.
