Water polo is a team sport.
It is a bit like soccer, but it is played in a swimming pool.
There are goal nets at each end of the pool. Each team passes the ball down the pool. The players try to throw it in the net to score a goal.
The team that scores the most goals wins.
The swimmers wear special hats to protect their ears.
The players must not touch the bottom or side of the pool during a game.
There are four quarters in a match; each quarter is 7 minutes long.
In a game of water polo, athletes might swim more than three miles.
You must be a fast swimmer to play water polo. You also need to be very fit.
