Jordan answers fan e-mail (10/5/98)
Sebastian from Dallas, TexasQuestion: Michael, I hope you're enjoying your off-season. I just want to get your reaction on Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire's chase for the home run record this past season? Did you follow their quests? Michael: I've been very impressed by both Mark and Sammy. My kids have also been following the chase, and since Sammy plays in Chicago, we were able to take in two of the games. Both Sammy and Mark's efforts should certainly be applauded, and as someone who holds records, I understand the intensity and concentration it takes to succeed as they have.
Michelle from Memphis, TennesseeQuestion: Michael, what are your thoughts on women's basketball? Would you ever consider coaching a WNBA basketball team? Michael: I'm very excited by the growth and excitement that the WNBA has created. As I've said several times before, I'm not sure I have the patience to coach men or women's basketball, so I'd probably have to turn down a WNBA coaching job at this point.
Kenton from Claremore, OklahomaQuestion: Michael, is it true that you wear your North Carolina shorts under your bulls uniform in every game? Is this something that you've always done? Michael: This is definitely true, in that I wear my shorts under my uniform every game. It's something I started doing a long time ago, and it seems to have been a lucky charm for me, so I have continued to wear them.
Shane from Union, KentuckyQuestion: Michael, when are you releasing your upcoming book? Michael: My autobiography, For the Love of the Game, hits the stores on October 27, 1998. It's something that I have been working hard on, and am excited that fans will have a chance to read more about my thoughts.
Eddy from Houston, TexasQuestion: Michael, Charles Barkley has mentioned that he would be interested in running for Governor. Any thoughts of going into politics after basketball? Michael: No -- but I'd certainly support Charles! I've never really had the time or desire to dabble in the political arena...it's not an area in which I feel comfortable. I've been so busy on the court, that I haven't always been able to keep up with political issues. I think I'll leave politics for the pros right now.
