Question from: Melissa Thompson from Bridgeport, CT Q: Just wanted to ask you how it is to win all of the championship's that you have won? And do you have any plans to retire after this season? A: Melissa, I have been extremely fortunate to be a part of 5 Championship teams, and it has been a tremendous experience. All I can say now is that I will continue to play basketball as long as I am enjoying it. I take each day one at a time, and I'm not thinking about next season yet. I am, however, thinking about a 6th Championship for the Bulls in '98! Question from: Duane Staus from Peru, IL Q: Throughout your entire sports career and in the business community you have accepted every challenge and succeeded in every way. However, on a more personal level; what do you see as the biggest challenge facing you as a parent and those of us raising young children today? A: Duane, thanks for asking about being a parent -- because it is one of the most difficult, yet fulfilling roles that I play. I have three terrific kids, Jeffrey, Marcus and Jasmine, and I try my best to provide a normal life for them, despite my celebrity status. I think the biggest challenge is preparing them to lead their own lives. I have to teach them right from wrong, and then let them make their own decisions. It's not easy being a kid today with all of the pressures that life presents...I can only hope that I can instill solid values within my kids to help them be successful and happy. Question from: Chris Brooks from Ocala, FL Q: Back in 1985, what did it feel like to be drafted to the NBA and have such high expectations? A: It was very intimidating to be a rookie in 1985. I remember feeling that I was low on the totem pole, so I was going to have to work myself up. When I started with the Bulls, they wanted me to be a vocal leader, but I told the coaches that I didn't feel comfortable with that. How could I tell guys this and that....The best way I could do it was to just go out and play hard and stay focused -- and that's how I approached it, and dealt with everyone's expectations. Question from: Sang Kyu Kim from Evanston, IL Q: If you had to select four other players from any era to be on your dream team, who would they be? A: That's a tough one -- because there are a ton of guys who I have had the experience to play with, and others I haven't. I'd have to say Magic, Bird, Abdul Jabbar, and of course, Scottie Pippen. Question from: Ryan Harmon from Wheaton, IL Q: What type of training do you do in the off season, and do you follow a pretty strict diet year round? I also wondered if you gain weight in the off season and then lose the excess right before the season begins? A: Believe it or not, during the off-season, I ease up on my training. After a long season (and intense post-season play-offs) full of daily workouts, I look forward to taking it easy over the summer. Golf is my primary activity, and I don't start getting ready for the season until late summer. I guess I'm pretty lucky in that I have a metabolism that doesn't let me gain weight too easily during the off season. Strict diet?? Nope, not me -- I've always been able to eat enough to get by.
