Second round: BOISE, Idaho -- The Bearcats nearly pull off another heartstopper with a late D'Juan Baker 3-pointer, but West Virginia answers with a late trey of its own to send Cincinnati to its second successive second-round ouster 75-74.

Baker, whose 3-pointer with 3.6 seconds left Thursday gave Cincinnati a first-round escape against Northern Arizona, hit two of them in the last 1:02 Saturday. His second one put the Bearcats (27-6) on top 74-72 with 7.1 seconds remaining.

The Bearcats had trouble with West Virginia's trademark full-court press. Cincinnati had 22 turnovers, resulting in 26 WVU points.

First round: BOISE, Idaho -- Finally, a long shot went in for Cincinnati, and the Bearcats survived the long-shot challenge of Northern Arizona with a harrowing 65-62 first-round victory in the NCAA West regional.

D'Juan Baker, 4-for-14 from the field up to that time, sank a 3-pointer with 3.6 seconds to play Thursday as the Bearcats avoided becoming only the fourth No. 2 seed to fall to a No. 15 seed.

Northern Arizona, a 15-point underdog in its first NCAA Tournament, frustrated the bigger, stronger Bearcats (27-5) all afternoon with a pestering defense and a patient offense as the crowd at BSU Pavilion roared its approval.
