First round: OKLAHOMA CITY -- No. 2 Kansas may have made Prairie View A&M wish it hadn't gotten into the NCAA tournament.
The Jayhawks looked every bit like a top seed Friday night, rolling over the
16th-seeded Panthers 110-52 in the first round of the Midwest Regional.
All-America Paul Pierce scored 19 points in the first half and finished with
25 as Kansas (35-3) advanced to Sunday's second-round game against Rhode
Island.
Did you know: This was the 100th
year of Kansas basketball. To celebrate, a statue of former coach Phog Allen was raised outside Allen Fieldhouse. KU also retired Wilt Chamberlain's jersey and invited 250 former letterman back for a gala celebration weekend. How many programs can fill every TV timeout of a game with introductions of its former Final Four teams?
