First round: HARTFORD, Conn. -- All-America Antawn Jamison had 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead top-ranked North Carolina to an 88-52 victory over Navy on Thursday in the opening round of the East Regional, the Tar Heels' first NCAA tournament victory without Dean Smith on the bench since 1957.

The top-seeded Tar Heels (31-3) dominated the 16th-seeded Midshipmen (19-11) in every facet of the game, holding them to 27 percent shooting from the field and outrebounding them 57-33.
