Sweet 16: ST. LOUIS -- After the horn sounded and the hugs were exchanged, only one of the famous fathers -- and none of their sons -- could wear an ear-to-ear smile. Rhode Island coach Jim Harrick has another game to play.

For Valparaiso's Homer, Bryce and Scott Drew, as well as for Jim Harrick Jr., their incredible, improbable NCAA ride is over.

Antonio Reynolds-Dean scored 16 points and made three big defensive plays down the stretch Friday night, leading Rhode Island to a 74-68 victory over Valparaiso in the Midwest Regional semifinals.

Second round: OKLAHOMA CITY -- Only Hoosiers might know Valparaiso is in Indiana. Now everyone is sure where the Crusaders are headed -- to the round of 16.

Valparaiso took another big step in its surprise run by beating Florida State 83-77 on Sunday, sending the smallest school in the NCAA Tournament to its first regional semifinal.

Bob Jenkins and Antanas Vilcinskas made follow shots in the final two minutes of overtime as Valparaiso won its 13th straight game. The Crusaders (23-9) will play the winner of Sunday's Kansas-Rhode Island game in St. Louis next Friday.

First round: OKLAHOMA CITY -- Bryce Drew hit a leaning 3-pointer at the buzzer Friday to give Valparaiso a shocking 70-69 upset of Mississippi in the first round of the NCAA Midwest Regional.

The 13th-seeded Crusaders' first NCAA Tournament victory was set up when Mississippi's Ansu Sesay missed two free throws with 4.3 seconds left.
