Arnold Palmer Golf Management has worked closely with the City of
Alton, Illinois to transform this municipal golf facility, located in a public park,
into a first-class amenity that attracts tourism while generating impressive
financial results. The Palmer Quality Standards have proven extremely successful
at Spencer T. Olin, which was selected by the U.S.G.A. as the site of the
1996 Women's Publinx Tournament and has been voted the "Best Daily Fee
Golf Course" in the St. Louis metropolitan area for the past four years. In
addition, the Club has been selected as one of the "Top 100 Golf Shops in
America" by Golf Shop Operations for the last five consecutive years.
Spencer T. Olin Community Golf Course was built by the Spencer T. Olin and Ann W. Olin Foundation as the centerpiece for the City of Alton's Gordon F. Moore Park. Under Arnold Palmer Golf Management Company's management, Spencer T. Olin Community Golf Course has become a true championship-caliber 18-hole course that is enjoyed by players of all skill levels.
Spencer T. Olin Community Golf Course is also a model for community involvement. Arnold Palmer Golf Management's "Spirit of Golf" Program, which began at Spencer T. Olin, is designed to make the game available to youths, disadvantaged persons, disabled persons and others who are not represented in the population of typical golfers. Conceived by Arnold Palmer, the man who is deeply committed and largely responsible for developing the game of public golf as we know it today, "Spirit of Golf" utilizes Palmer-managed courses, such as Spencer T. Olin Community Golf Course, as hubs of activity that directly benefit the community. |
