America True

With each America’s Cup, it is increasing obvious how some of the stereotypes of sailing in general, and the America's Cup in particular, have diminished. Gone are the ideas that this is solely a rich man’s sport, old men in blue blazers smoking their pipe at the helm.

Of all the syndicates competing in this years America’s Cup, none show this to be truer than America True.

While building a boat and running a campaign are not cheap, Dawn Riley has shown that “If you can dream it, you can do it.”

“We are pointing the America’s Cup in a new direction” claims Riley. Although stripping away the aristocratic appearance of their syndicate and being dubbed the people’s challenge, they are also serious and focused on their ultimate goal.

Dawn Riley has surrounded the syndicate with experience and knowledge. She proved in '95 that there is a place for women on an American Cup boat and her crew for this challenge reflects that.

America’s cup veteran John Cutler joins America True to help drive and train the already assembled talent while Buddy Melges has been brought on board as a coach. With both of there America’s Cup experience along with John’s knowledge of his home waters near Auckland, give America True a claim to be a True contender
