When one thinks America's Cup over the last 10 years, one thinks Stars & Stripes and Dennis Conner. This will be Stars and Stripes 5th challenge while skipper Dennis Conner is in his eighth campaign. While many associate Conner as the man who lost the America's Cup, his record in the event is remarkable. He has won the America's cup four times and made it to the finals twice.

In January 1999, Stars & Stripes teamed up US Virgin Islands challenge and the combination of both personel and experience will provide a formidable team. Peter Holmberg and his US Virgin Islands challenge had failed to find the necessary funding required to launch an America's cup challenge so the association with Stars and Stripes became a necessity.

Dennis will be joined on board by some of the best sailing talent in the US. Sharing the helm will two time Yachtsman of the Year, Ken Read while Peter Holmberg will be tactician.
