| Outlook | The Mutiny will try to squeeze another season out of playmaker
Carlos Valderrama, who will turn 39 this year. Coach Tim Hankinson sent playmaker Mauricio
Ramos to New England, essentially committing to another year with "El Pibe"
as his midfield general.
Valderrama will look for Raul Diaz Arce up front but will have to
do without clutch scorer Musa Shannon, who is now playing in
Portugal. Taking his place could be newly signed
Mamadou Diallo from Senagal.
The midfield will see Ritchie Kotschau
and Manny Lagos who formed a good partnership
in the later stages last year with consistent Steve Ralston providing his share of assists from the
right flank.
Defensively, the Mutiny have an aging back line with Steve Trittschuh,
Dominic Kinnear, Joseph Addo and the enforcer Chris Houser.
Despite a losing record, the Mutiny were still able to finish 3rd in the East last
year, heading to the playoffs before losing again to the Crew. This year they
won't be so lucky in a much-improved Central. |
