LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) Murray State was limited to one basketball recruiter next season and the former football coach received a letter of reprimand for minor violations of NCAA rules.

According to the NCAA report, there were three occasions in 1996 when three basketball coaches were recruiting off campus when only two recruiters were allowed. Also, four basketball players who hadn't qualified academically worked for a season-ticket holder during the 1996-97 season.

The school paid the extra lodging expense for Connie Moore, a football recruit from Champaign, Ill., who stayed longer than the 48-hour limit for an official visit. The school reported that violation to the NCAA, but allowed Moore to play in nine games in 1998 without following the proper procedures necessary to reinstate his eligibility.

The school's athletic department failed to report athletics-related outside income for coaches in all sports.

"The former head football coach received a written reprimand because of his involvement in two findings in the report," the NCAA statement said. Denver Johnson, who coached Murray for three seasons, was hired in January as coach at Illinois State.
