MOBILE, Ala. (AP) Rick Pietri, who spent six seasons coaching high school basketball in Mobile, was hired as coach of South Alabama's women's team Tuesday.

Pietri, a South Alabama alumnus, replaces Cheryl Rice, who resigned this month after posting a 33-76 record over four seasons.
